July 8, 1881: The ice cream sundae was invented as an alternative to ice cream soda drinks, banned on the Sabbath as soda was considered a controlled substance, like alcohol

July 9, 1877: The first ever lawn tennis championship was played at Wimbledon. The men’s singles game was won by rackets player Spencer Gore

July 10, 2018: A cave rescue in Thailand successfully extracted 12 boys and their soccer coach, trapped for 17 days after heavy rains flooded narrow passages
