March 21, 2023 - يستمر التخلص من الموظفين في قطاع التكنولوجيا في ظل قيام أمازون بإلغاء 9000 وظيفة أخرى - بعد أن قامت في السابق بتسريح 18000 موظف في كانون الثاني.

Amazon is to make another 9,000 workers redundant, on top of the 18,000 staff it laid off two months ago – taking the number of tech sector job losses in the past 12 months to more than 400,000, according to the TrueUp tech lay-off tracker.

The news comes just days after Facebook owner Meta axed a further 10,000 jobs on top of the 11,000 it let go last October.

Tech companies are cutting costs as a result of having expanded too rapidly during the pandemic, when lockdowns fuelled a stay-at-home economy of online shopping and a need for new computers and tablets to work from home.

Microsoft, Google parent Alphabet and Twitter have all made sizeable reductions in staff in recent months to slim down teams and save money.
