العثور على آثار متفجرات على خطوط الأنابيب

By Ninian Carter

Swedish and Danish investigators have found traces of explosives at the site of the damaged Nord Stream gas pipelines, confirming sabotage had taken place.

Four holes in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which link Russia and Germany, are being studied, with traces of explosives being found on several recovered objects.

The September 26 ruptures of the seabed pipelines caused gas to spew into the ocean — bubbled on the surface for a week afterwards.

The finger of blame has been pointed at Vladimir Putin, but the Kremlin denies the accusations, instead claiming the British Navy blew them up.

The damage highlights vulnerabilities in Europe’s energy networks, which were further underlined when radio cables in Germany were mysteriously cut weeks later — halting rail services for hours.

Since the Nord Stream attack, NATO has increased monitoring of undersea pipelines and data cables, using satellites, aircraft, ships and submarines.
