August 10, 2022 - بلغ حجم الجليد البحري في أنتاركتيكا أدنى مستوى له في تموز (يوليو) منذ بدء السجلات قبل 44 عاماً، أي أقل بنسبة %7 من متوسط 1991 - 2020.

The European Copernicus Climate Change Service found that Antarctic sea ice extent reached 15.3 million sq km, down from the July average of 16.5 million sq km. Meanwhile, Arctic sea ice was 4% lower than the average.

While climate change makes extreme heat and drought more likely, the 2021 July figure was above average, underscoring the great annual variability in Antarctic sea ice.
