Extreme wildfires causing widespread global destruction

By Ninian Carter

July 27, 2022 - Scientists believe climate change is to blame for multiple wildfires that are causing widespread destruction around the world.

Extreme wildfires (blazes which have consumed more than 400 hectares) have destroyed vast swathes of land around the world in the first half of 2022.

Once relatively rare, these large, out of control fires are becoming increasingly frequent events, fuelled by multiple heatwaves and droughts.

Scientists believe the cause to be climate change, brought about by man-made pollution – an issue they have been warning of for decades.
