الفارون من العدوان في أوكرانيا

By Ninian Carter

May 10, 2022 - More than 6.5 million people have fled Ukraine in Europe’s fastest-growing refugee crisis since World War Two. 3,524,205 people (53% of the total) have crossed into Poland.

The United Nations reports that 6,595,675 people have fled Ukraine, with 53 percent of them crossing into Poland.

Others have gone to Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia and other European countries. Approximately 930,000 people have entered Russia.

Most of those who have left are women and children – Ukraine enacted martial law at the beginning of the conflict, requiring males aged 18 to 60 to remain in the country.

It is Europe’s worst refugee crisis since the Balkan wars of the 1990s.

Notably the UN now estimates 2,086,500 people have returned to Ukraine, although it cannot deduct this figure from the total refugees tally as they do not necessarily indicate sustained returns.
