April 4, 1841: U.S. President William Henry Harrison died after only 32 days in office. He caught pneumonia after delivering the longest inaugural address in U.S. history

April 5, 1951: Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were sentenced to death in the U.S. for passing atomic secrets to the Russians. They were executed in the electric chair in June 1953

April 6, 1896: The first Olympic Games of the modern era, revived by French historian Baron Pierre de Coubertin, were inaugurated in Athens, Greece

April 7, 2001: NASA launched the Mars Odyssey spacecraft on a 30-month geological survey to the Red Planet, after which it began a series of extended missions
