February 14, 2021 - February 20, 2021 - Graphics show birthdays and anniversaries for each day of the week.This week features the bikini, the adoption of decimal currency in Britain, the computer innovator Larry Tesler, Elton John, the first feature-length 3D film made in colour, the sound recording of Thomas Edison, and the Mir space station

EDITORS: The On This Day series of graphics started almost 25 years ago in 1996. It offers a print graphic for every day of the year in English, Spanish or Arabic. A digital version is also available that auto-updates providing a fresh image for your website every day of the year (English only - see link below).

The print graphics for each week are downloadable together as a set, and made available two weeks at a time, a week before the first day of the first set.

February 19, 1878: Thomas Edison patented the phonograph, in which a large horn transmitted vibrations to a needle that scribed a recording on to a cylinder rotated by hand

February 20, 1986: The Soviet Union launched the Mir space station into orbit, with special laboratories for scientific research and living quarters for three cosmonauts
