بايدن يتفوق على ترامب لدى القوات العسكرية

By Duncan Mil

September 3, 2020 - A Military Times poll of active-duty U.S. troops has seen a steady drop in service members’ opinion of President Donald Trump -- their commander in chief -- since his election in 2016.

The survey also found a slight but significant preference for former Vice President Joe Biden in the upcoming November election among troops surveyed.

In the latest results -- based on 1,018 active-duty troops surveyed in late July and early August -- nearly half of respondents (49.9 per cent) had an unfavourable view of the president, compared to about 37.8 per cent who had a favourable opinion. Questions in the poll had a margin of error of two per cent.

The poll, conducted in partnership with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, showed Biden garnering 3.9 per cent more support among active-duty service members.

The poll also shows a notable difference in perceptions of the president between officers and enlisted troops. Nearly 60 per cent of officers reported an unfavourable opinion of Trump compared to 47 per cent of enlisted members.

Even with the steady decline, Trump’s popularity in the poll remains better than former President Barack Obama. Obama had a 36 per cent favourable rating and a 52 per cent unfavourable rating in a January 2017 Military Times poll.
