موسم أعاصير المحيط الأطلسي ... نشيط للغاية

May 18, 2020 - The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is expected to be more active than average, with 16 named tropical storms. Of those, researchers expect eight to become hurricanes and four to reach major hurricane strength.

As Tropical Storm Arthur moves up the U.S. coastline, forecasters worry that it is just the first domino to fall in a hurricane season that has the potential to mirror the worst ever.

Arthur became the first named storm of 2020 when it reached tropical storm status over the weekend.

This is the sixth year in a row that a named storm has preceded the formal June 1 start of the hurricane season.

Due to a lack of an El Niño and warmer ocean water, the Colorado State University anticipate the 2020 season could be more active than the 2019 hurricane season, which delivered devastating Hurricane Dorian, massive flooding from Tropical Storm Imelda and record-smashing Hurricane Lorenzo, among other storms.
