February 22, 2020 - Undefeated fighters Deontay Wilder of the U.S. and Britain’s Tyson Fury will do battle again in a rematch for the WBC title, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The victor will be handed the opportunity to seek a bout with British boxer Anthony Joshua -- holder of the IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO titles -- to unify the heavyweight division for the first time since 1999.

In November, Deontay Wilder completed the 11th defence of his WBC title, defeating Cuba’s Luis Ortiz for the second time in another rerun of an earlier contest. The rematch with Fury is widely accepted as the biggest of the American’s career.

Tyson Fury is also undefeated. The “Gypsy King” beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to win the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles, but was later stripped of his belts due to substance abuse. Since returning to the ring, he has defeated Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta, and Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin, either side of the draw with Wilder.

The first bout in December 2018 ended in a controversial split-decision draw, with Fury out-landing Wilder 84-71 for overall punches, including 46-40 jabs and 38-31 power punches. The American, however, achieved two dramatic knockdowns in the 9th and 12th rounds.
