مصر وإثيوبيا على خلاف بشأن سد النيل

By Mike Tyler

September 17, 2019 - Egypt says Ethiopia has “summarily rejected” its plan for operating the $4 billion Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) that Ethiopia is building on the Blue Nile.

Egypt also dismissed Ethiopia’s own proposal as “unfair and inequitable”, Reuters said.

The comments come as Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan met on Sunday and Monday for their first talks over the dam in more than a year.

The long-running dispute centres on the filling and operation of what will be Africa's largest hydroelectric dam.

Egypt fears the dam could reduce its share of the Nile River, which serves as a lifeline for the country’s 100 million people. Ethiopia has roughly the same population and says the dam will help its economic development.
