September 24, 2015: Over 2,000 people were crushed or suffocated in the deadliest ever stampede at the annual Hajj pilgrimage near Mecca.

September 28, 2018: A magnitude 7.5 earthquake hit Palu, on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, triggering a tsunami and major soil liquefaction that killed over 2,200 people
