September 17, 1978: U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Anwar Sadat of Egypt and Menachem Begin of Israel reached a framework for a peace treaty at their summit at Camp David

September 18, 2016: Vladimir Putin’s party won a commanding victory in Russia’s parliamentary elections. For the first time, people voted in Crimea, annexed from Ukraine in 2014
