مساعي كوريا الشمالية لامتلاك أسلحة نووية
June 11, 2018 - Since the U.S. removed tactical nuclear weapons from its bases in South Korea in 1991, five U.S. presidents have offered inducements to North Korea to forgo its quest for nuclear weapons.
North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear weapons test from the Punggye-Ri Nuclear Test Facility on September 3, 2017, a day after Pyongyang published photos of Kim Jong-un with what it claims is a hydrogen bomb.
The independent Norwegian Research Organization (NORSAR) determined the magnitude of the test to have been 5.8. NORSAR calculated that the yield of the test device would be about 120 kilotons -- or about eight times the power of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, and about six times that of the fifth test conducted at Punggye-Ri on September 9, 2016.
