May 15, 2018 - Foreign ministers from Germany, France and Britain will meet in Brussels on Tuesday evening to find a way to save the Iran nuclear deal after U.S. President Donald Trump quit the accord.

The meeting between French foreign minister Jean-Yves le Drian, British counterpart Boris Johnson and Germany’s Heiko Maas, hosted by the European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, will be followed by talks with the Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in an intensive diplomatic effort to shore up the agreement.

German Chancellor A. Merkel and President Vladimir Putin will meet at the end of the week in Sochi to discuss the crisis.

White House national security adviser John Bolton warned on Sunday that “it‘s possible” that European companies doing business with Iran would be subject to secondary sanctions. German exports to Iran increased by around €400 million ($476 million) to a total of €3 billion ($3.57 billion) in 2017.
