Independence opinion polls

September 18, 2014 - Scotland votes on independence. Support for an independent Scotland has received a big boost following the second TV debate between Alex Salmond and Better Together leader Alistair Darling on August 25. A Survation poll for the Scottish Daily Mail puts support for a ‘Yes” vote at 41.6 percent to 47.6 percent for “No”.

However, about 10 percent of Scotland’s 4.16 million voters flatly refuse to tell pollsters anything at all on their electoral behaviour and it is these who hold the true balance of power in the campaign, according to Martin Boon, director of ICM Research.
