Gallipoli campaign

July 28, 2014 - The Gallipoli Campaign was the Allied plan to mount a British-led naval expedition to bombard and take the Gallipoli Peninsula on the western shore of the Dardanelles. A combined military-naval campaign would then seize Constantinople and force Turkey out of the war, easing pressure on ally Russia. The overall campaign led to more than 48,000 Allied deaths and close to 90,000 Turkish deaths.
