October 21, 2012 - Regional parliamentary elections take place Sunday in Spain’s Basque Country, with separatists calling for an independent state. The move, following the agreement between London and Edinburgh on the terms of the 2014 independence referendum in Scotland, comes ahead of a snap election in Catalonia which could potentially open the way for Spain’s most economically important region to declare independence from Madrid.
