May 2, 2011 - Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been killed by U.S. forces in Pakistan during a 40-minute firefight. Bin Laden died at a heavily fortified compound at Abbottabad -- near the main Pakistani Army training centre -- during a helicopter assault led by U.S. Navy SEALs.
