GN30636 G8 Summit: Security measures

June 17, 2013 -- Leaders of the world’s eight biggest economies will attend the G8 summit at Lough Erne in Northern Ireland from June 17-18. The security bill for the two-day event is estimated at around £50 million ($75m, €58m). With the event taking place in Northern Ireland, rather than focusing on protests, the security operation is being tailored towards preventing terrorist attacks by groups such as the New IRA and ONH (Oglaigh na hEireann).
