About the Graphic News FTP Service The Graphic News FTP Service is not an alternative to the Graphic News online service but an add-on for publishers with multi-media newsrooms and their own content management systems
- Information about graphics:
- Visuals can be sent of all graphics, even interactive iGraphics. These can then be included on a picture desk so graphics can be seen alongside the pictures available. For ease of integration previews are in JPG format with appropriate metadata and are watermarked to prevent their being published by mistake. These have filenames such as GN12345H.jpg or GN12345H_NL.jpg
- Descriptions of graphics that are in preparation, that have moved recently or are still time can be sent (in XML, TXT or HTML). These include captions and context information, and associated stories (if available)
- Editors can also follow Graphic News by receiving e-alerts, rss feeds or twitter (coming soon)
- So that new graphics do not have to be downloaded individually:
- Graphics (JPG or HTML5) can be sent so they are available locally, for the convenience of online editors, particularly those wishing to use iframes. As these graphics automatically overwrite previous versions this ensures that the latest version of graphics are included on your website .
- Other formats for print use (such as the PDF and AI for graphics constructed in Illustrator) can also be sent but it is recommended that these are downloaded from the Graphic News website as and when needed. The PDF is essentially a page-ready format, whereas the AI (ZIP) should be used if the graphic is to be translated or modified.
There is an additional charge for this service. For further information please Contact Us.Related topics: About iGraphics
