He made his Yorkshire debut in 1949 and had more than 2,000 first-class wickets to his name when he retired in 1969 |

Screen legend Marlon Brando died aged 80 in a Los Angeles hospital following a long illness. Brando, regarded as one of the influential actors of his generation, starred in more than 40 films, and was Oscar-nominated eight times, winning Best Actor awards for his roles in On the Waterfront (1954) and The Godfather (1972). Other notable roles included those in Apocalypse Now (1979), Last Tango in Paris (1973), and A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). In a turbulent personal life, Brando had at least 11 children with three ex-wives and other women. Tragedy struck when his son Christian was jailed for the manslaughter of the abusive fiance of his sister Cheyenne, who herself later committed suicide. In later years, Brando became increasingly reclusive, very overweight, and lost much of his fortune |
