Apple’s anticipated 2022 product release roadmap

January 24, 2022 - Apple is gearing up for its first product launch event of the year, with a new iPhone SE and iPad anticipated this spring.

Apple is believed to be releasing a slew of new products and updates in 2022, featuring its own M1 and M2 silicone. Here’s what the technology press believe is coming:

SPRING – March 8 event

• iPhone SE 5G – Same form factor but with faster processor and 5G connectivity

• iPad Air – Upgraded to A15 chip

• iMac Pro – Larger 27-inch variant of 2021 iMac

• Mac mini – High-end update with more ports and M1 Pro and Max chips

SUMMER

• iPad Pro – Possible glass backplate for wireless charging

• MacBook Air – Thinner (wedge shape is gone), lighter, faster

• Mac Pro – New smaller chassis with up to 32-cores

• Apple Display – Updated Pro Display and lower-cost option

• Worldwide Developers Conference (June) – Software reveals (iOS 16, iPadOS 16, tvOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS 13)

AUTUMN

• iPhone 14 – Hole punch design to replace notch in Pro models and A16 chip

• Apple Watch Series 8 – New temperature sensor and sleep apnea detection, among others

• AirPods Pro – More compact design eliminates stem

• AR/VR headset – Augmented/virtual reality headset rumoured to arrive in 2022 if Apple can overcome some development issues
