49ers tackle Chiefs for Super Bowl glory

By Chris Dinsdale

February 2, 2020 - The San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the 54th edition of the Super Bowl, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The 49ers, who defeated Minnesota and Green Bay in the playoffs, could win a record-equalling sixth Vince Lombardi trophy in their seventh Super Bowl appearance, while the Chiefs, who eliminated Houston and Tennessee, are seeking their first victory since 1970 in the showpiece event.

The Super Bowl is the annual championship of the U.S. National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional American football.

The game is contested by the winners of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), and always attracts massive advertising revenues and vast audiences.

An estimated 98.2 million people watched the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams in the 2019 Super Bowl, the lowest viewing figures since 2008. The all-time record for Super Bowl viewing was 114.4 million for the Seattle-New England game in 2015.

A 30-second commercial broadcast during the game will cost between $5.1 million and $5.3 million.
