Israel’s Netanyahu set for election victory

By Duncan Mil

April 10, 2019 - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is likely to secure a record fifth term despite his Likud party running neck-and-neck with former-military chief Benny Gantz’s centrist Blue and White alliance.

Nearly all right-wing parties declared Tuesday they will recommend Benjamin Netanyahu to President Reuven Rivlin to form the next government.

Kulanu, the United Right-Wing Parties, Shas and United Torah Judaism together got 25 Knesset seats. With Likud -- which received 35 Knesset seats -- the right-wing bloc would achieve the minimum 60 Knesset seats required for forming a coalition, or 65 seats if Avigdor Lieberman, the leader of Yisrael Beiteinu, recommends Netanyahu for the premiership.
