Former Arsenal and Barcelona star Thierry Henry is launching his managerial career at AS Monaco, 24 years after making his professional debut as a player there. The Ligue 1 team sacked coach Leonardo Jardim earlier this month, and are languishing in the relegation zone after only one win in all competitions this season.
Since winning the Ligue 1 trophy in 2016-17, Monaco have sold the majority of their title-winning stars -- including teenage World Cup sensation Kylian Mbappe -- for an estimated €560m.
Henry faces a tough start at “Les Monégasques” with contests against struggling Dijon and Reims, as well as a crucial double header with Club Brugge to retain their Champions League status.
