Alpine Skiing World Cup calendar

By Chris Dinsdale

October 28, 2018 - March 17, 2019 - The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup is the premier international circuit of alpine skiing competitions, taking place at more than 30 venues in 12 countries. The season begins in Soelden, Austria, and concludes in March at the World Cup finals in Soldeu, Andorra.

The reigning Alpine Ski World Cup overall champions are Austria’s Marcel Hirscher (men) and Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States (women).

For U.S. star Lindsey Vonn, the most successful female in alpine skiing history, the 2018-19 season will be her last winter of competition.

With 82 World Cup victories to her name, Vonn sits just four wins shy of tying Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time World Cup win record of 86 set in 1989, but insists she will retire at the end of the upcoming winter whether or not she can pass Stenmark’s tally.

She won five World Cup races in the 2017-18 season, and plans to race every downhill and super-G in the approaching season to give herself the best chance of breaking the record.
