Syrian air strikes pound rebel-held eastern Ghouta
February 9, 2018 - Syrian government air raids, rocket strikes and shelling of Eastern Ghouta has killed more than 190 people and injured 850 others since Sunday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The region of Eastern Ghouta is home to an estimated 400,000 people living under government siege and facing escalating bombardment in recent weeks.
Eastern Ghouta was one of several so-called “de-escalation zones” agreed last year by three of the main outside players in the conflict -- Turkey, Iran and Russia.
