KEY TO FILENAMES

When files are downloaded they can be recognized by the filenames
  • GN12345P_print_EN.zip, GN12345W_interactive_EN.zip, and GN12345R_screen_EN.zip. These files decompress to a folder containing the formats available for a print graphic, an interactive or a responsive screen graphic respectively.
  • Filenumbers: Files from Graphic News start with the prefix GN and are numbered sequentially.
    GN12345, GN12346, GN12347...
  • Language: If a graphic is available in different languages this is indicated by two letters
GN12345_EN is English, GN12345_AR is Arabic,_NL is Dutch, _DE German, _PT Portuguese, _ES Spanish.
  • The Suffix -- ZIP, PDF, JPG -- indicates that the graphic has been compressed and/or the format the graphic has been saved to.
  • Letters such as C, M, W, V, R after the number give further information about the file.
    GN30268C is in colour
    GN30268M is in monochrome (legacy)
GN12345W is a file for web use. V.jpg is a scalable preview for an interactive graphic
GN12345R is a file for a responsive graphic
  • Updates (1), (2)...: When a graphic has been updated this is indicated by a number in brackets
GN12345C(1) first update, (2) second update...
There will be a message with the information about the graphic explaining what precisely has been changed. Only the .ai version of graphics created in Adobe Illustrator is numbered.
  • Sets Sometimes it is convenient to give different graphics the same file number to make downloading easier and to stop the website being swamped with near identical graphics. For example, for a tournament we might produce graphics showing each of the teams. Rather than upload each graphic separately, they could be named GN12345C_ENG for the English team, GN12345C_NED for the Dutch team, etc. All the .ai could then be packaged in a folder and compressed to give GN12345C_ai_EN.zip, where .ai in this case is the set code.
  • Minimised Files _min_ Interactiives can be supplied in a fully editable version and a version "minimized for publication, indicated by _min_ in the filename
