SportLive -- Interactive graphics with live results and statistics

SportLive offers visually dynamic animated event guides with advance information about teams and players, followed by live results and statistics that update automatically during the event

RESPONSIVE: Sportlive interactives (after July 2015) are responsive -- Their design changes if viewed on screens of different size. For smaller screens the width gets less but the height remains the same.

PUBLISHING: Sportlive graphics can be published in an iframe. We recommend using the embed code supplied by Graphic News wherever possible. This is because updates may be necessary at short notice because of factors beyond our control, particularly at the start of the season. By using our embed code your website will always show the latest update of the graphic. | USING EMBED CODE |

TRANSLATED VERSIONS: If a publisher would like the embed code for a Sportlive graphic in a language not already available, please contact Graphic News. If a publisher supplies the text for the background text in another language, Graphic News can host the graphic and supply the appropriate embed code.

EDITABLE: Sportlive interactives can be modified using Tumult Hype and published in a similar way to other interactives. But for Sportlive there are two text files (json) - one is for the live results feed and one for the background text. The background text can be translated but the live results are provided by an agency so the languages available depend on what can be supplied. | INTERACTIVES |ing. | PROOFING INTERACTIVES |

TOURNAMENT GUIDES v EVENT TRACKERS: To avoid overwhelming our website by producing separate graphics for each match or event, “eventIDs” may be used. By substituting the match ID in the embed code, the graphic can be “refaced” to focus on a particular event or club. Event IDs can be downloaded, and are presented in a table - visible only after you log in.

APPS: For sports fans who want to follow events, web pages can be very frustrating because they are incremental - being added to all the time. So it can be quite difficult to get back to a tournament guide or tracker. To solve this problem, publishers can make a “web app” available to download from the page showing the graphic. This is essentially a bookmark with an icon that can be downloaded to your home screen. If you click on the icon it takes you back to the linked web page - very useful for anyone following a particular sport event. | APPs for SPORTLIVE |

21 days to go until NEW GRAPHIC NEWS - a new website for a new era.

28 years ago — April 2, 1991 — the original Graphic News launched using a precursor to today’s websites that used email technology. These enabled infographics to be delivered electronically around the world over telephone lines. What was possible was very limited - It took 10 minutes for a 100K file to download.

Since then delivery speeds and website technology have moved on. The new website will offer the best online experience possible now, adding many new features (and offering new opportunities for the future), but still enabling existing users to select and download infographics and enjoy the distinct brand of visual journalism that is Graphic News.

Over the coming days I will give further information. Please contact me if you have any questions. Fiona Roberts, froberts @ graphicnews.com
