Outlining headlines means that their appearance is no longer dependent on whether you have that particular font or not. You don't have to worry that the graphic will go to press with the headline in an unsuitable font that has been substituted by your system for the font intended.

If you want to edit or translate text that has been outlined you will need to delete the outlined text and replace with the editable text that can be retrieved from the Translation layer. The text on this layer is not normally visible because it is beneath the Background Layer.

To pick up text from the Translation layer go from Publish View to Translation View. Copy the text. Go back to Publish View. Then Paste using CMD-F so the text is positioned exactly in the same position.

TIP: To select the outlined text, use the enlarge tool so that the area you are working on is as big as possible. This makes it easier to select handles by drawing the open headed arrow tool across the letters you want to select.
